<<< Welcome to Angklung Web Institute (AWI)! This website is a medium of information exchange about angklung knowledge and competence, especially diatonic angklung in orchestral composition. The Father of Angklung Daeng Sutigna first created the diatonic angklung in 1938. Until now, angklung still has to face many challenges of identity to be acknowledged as one of world’s standard music instruments. One major problem is that there is no firm standard yet in constructing, tuning, forming, playing, and compositing angklung. Another problem is that until today, an angklung music community as a media of education and industrialization of the angklung music hasn’t been founded yet. Through this website we would like to ask you who have a great concern to the development of angklung to pass this piece of information to the world in order to support this developing music instrument. Through this website we would like to convey an angklung-ical activity to an angklung team or community and hopefully someday the industrialization of angklung can be realized. Konser 100 Tahun Bapak Angklung Daeng Soetigna

SEKITAR 600 penonton "Konser Peringatan 100 Tahun Bapak Angklung Daeng Soetigna: A Trail of Invention in World's Music History" berkali-kali dibuat takjub. Di Gedung Merdeka, Sabtu (20/12) malam, mereka menjadi saksi bahwa angklung benar-benar menjadi bagian musik dunia.

Komunitas pelestari angklung, seperti Keluarga Besar Bumi Siliwangi UPI, Gentra Seba STBA Bandung, SD Cikal Jakarta, Temen Awi Angklung Orchestra, dan Insperto Arumba Awi Orchestra (Insperto), memainkan komposisi dari para komposer nasional dan internasional.

Konser berdurasi dua jam ini dibuka dengan lagu Indonesia Raya ciptaan WR Supratman, dipimpin Concert Master Obby AR Wiramihardja. Pakar angklung ini ialah salah seorang murid maestro pencipta angklung diatonis-kromatis, almarhum Daeng Soetigna.

Kelompok penampil angklung orkestra dari berbagai lintas usia kemudian menampilkan beberapa karya komposer dalam negeri maupun lagu daerah yang cukup dikenal publik, yakni Bengawan Solo (Gesang), Sirih Kuning (NN), Es Lilin (Bi Mursih), Kopi Dangdut (Andi Hardy), dan Rinduku Padamu (Soesilo Bambang Yudhoyono).

Angklung terasa benar-benar setara dengan alat musik dunia ketika para penampil memainkan komposisi komposer dunia, di antaranya Santorini (Yanni), Li Biamo Ne Lieti Calici from La Traviatta (Giuseppe Verdi), Air for G String (Johan Sebastian Bach), hingga Melody of Life (Eumatsu Nobuo).

Di sela konser diluncurkan pula buku Membela Kehormatan Angklung, Sebuah Biografi dan Bunga Rampai Daeng Soetigna, yang disusun Tatang Sumarsono dan Erna Garnasih Pirous. Tatang mengaku sebatas melanjutkan cita-cita Daeng Soetigna untuk melestarikan angklung.

"Sekarang sudah terbentuk kelompok komunitas pemuda pelestari angklung di 33 provinsi di Indonesia. Kami upayakan semua punya perangkat angklung. Semoga di waktu mendatang tak ada lagi negara yang berani mengaku angklung milik mereka," ujar Tatang, disambut riuh tepuk tangan.

Sebelum masuk ruangan, para penonton konser bisa melihat puluhan bingkai foto yang menggambarkan perjalanan Daeng Soetigna mengenalkan angklung di berbagai event baik nasional maupun internasional. Termasuk foto beberapa anak murid yang melanjutkan kiprahnya melestarikan angklung. Menjadikan angklung makin diterima setelah almarhum membuat konsep 5M (murah, mudah, massal, mendidik, dan menyenangkan).

Semasa hidup, Daeng Soetigna pernah menerima penghargaan Satyalencana Kebudayaan dari Presiden Soeharto (1968) dan Anugerah Bintang Budaya Parana Dharma dari Presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (2007). (rry)
