The Father of Angklung Daeng Sutigna first created the diatonic angklung in 1938. Until now, angklung still has to face many challenges of identity to be acknowledged as one of world’s standard music instruments. Through this website we would like to convey an angklung-ical activity to an angklung team or community and hopefully someday the industrialization of angklung can be realized. JAKARTA, KAMIS - Ketika angklung disebut-sebut mulai diklaim negara tetangga, banyak pihak yang tersentak, tak terkecuali band A.S.A.P (As Soon As Possible). Tak mau tinggal diam, kelompok yang digawangi Donny Lesmana (gitar), Donald Akihary (drum), Nada Nadiar (bas), dan Aldy (vokal) ini mengajak salah satu seniman angklung dari Jawa Barat, Joes Roesadi (71), untuk berkolaborasi menggarap sebuah album yang memasukkan musik khas tanah Parahyangan itu.

Tak muluk-muluk, A.S.A.P, seperti dituturkan Aldy, tidak ingin kesenian khas Indonesia tersebut senasib dengan batik yang diakui negara sebelah. "Kita tak mau kalau angklung juga berpindah tangan," katanya disambut tepuk tangan hangat di sela peluncuran album A.S.A.P, Ingatkah Kamu, di Kamasutra Cafe, Hotel Crowne Plaza, Gatot Soebroto, Jakarta, Rabu (23/4). Itikad itulah yang kemudian membuat Joes Roesadi, yang disapa Kang Josi, merasa tertantang untuk menghadirkan sebuah harmonisasi baru, dengan moderen pop rock yang dibumbui alunan musik angklung.
 
Rasa-rasanya, para maestro angklung, seperti almarhum Daeng Sutigna--kelahiran Garut 13 Mei 1908-- dan Mang Udjo, yang lebih dulu menapaki perjalanan musik angklung di bumi Indonesia, pantas tersenyum. Di tangan penerus mereka, Kang Josi, alat musik dari bambu itu semakin menunjukkan jati dirinya.
 
Dari album Ingatkah Kamu, A.S.A.P menjadikan lagu Bunda sebagai jagoan. Ada pesan yang hendak mereka sampaikan--lagu itu merupakan bentuk penghormatan yang setingi-tingginya kepada sosok seorang ibu.

Mengomentari kehadiran musik angklung yang berkolaborasi dengan sebuah grup yang mengusung aliran musik modern pop rock, pemusik Gilang Ramadhan mengutarakan, ''Di tengah hilangnya jati diri bangsa Indonesia yang tidak pandai menjaga dan memelihara alat musik tradisional yang jelas-jelas sebuah produk budaya leluhur, apa yang dilakukan A.S.A.P dan Pak Roesadi adalah sebuah terobosan yang baik.''
