The Father of Angklung Daeng Sutigna first created the diatonic angklung in 1938. BERMAIN ANGKLUNG MASSAL DI UNPAD (Republika Online, 2 September 2007) Print E-mail

Instrumentalia lagu 'Father Jacob' mengumandang di halaman parkir kampus Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) Bandung, Senin (27/8). Sepuluh ribu mahasiswa baru Unpad mengumandangkannya lewat alunan alat musik angklung. Ghea Idol dan Brinnet Idol ikut di dalamnya, memainkan alat musik tradisional Sunda itu. Para mahasiswa itu mengenakan baju seragam SMA. Rambut Ghea dikepang dua.

Memainkan angklung, Ghea dan Brinnet ikut berperan menorehkan rekor MURI: bermain angklung dengan jumlah pemain angklung terbanyak. Lagu Sunda, 'Pileuleuyan', dan empat lagu lainnya mengalun dari getaran bambu yang telah berubah jadi angklung itu yang digoyang-goyangkan oleh para pemain yang mengikuti arahan konduktor Sam Udjo dan Ika Widia.

Ghea diterima di Fakultas Psikologi dan Brinnet diterima di Fakultas Kedokteran Gigi. ''Kalau bermain rame-rame seperti ini, beda banget. Begitu angklungnya dibunyikan sangat bagus. Saya senang sekali,'' kata Ghea.

Bagi Ghea, angklung bukanlah barang baru, karena sebelum berpartisipasi pada pencetakan rekor MURI ini, Ghea sudah terbiasa memainkan angklung. Ia mengakus ering diajak ke Saung Angklung Mang Udjo, oleh temannya yang aktif di Saung Angklung itu. Ayahnya, juga sudah mengenalkan angklung kepadanya sejak ia belia. Namun, pengalaman memainkan angklung dengan ribuan orang baru pertama kali dialaminya.

Angklung merupakan alat musik khas dari Sunda yang memiliki filosofi kebersamaan. Angklung tidak bisa dimainkan seorang diri, tapi harus dimainkan secara bersama-sama.

Syahlan Nur mengaku baru kali ini memainkan angklung. Meski di pesantrennya, di Pondok Gontor, Jawa Timur, tersedia angklung, ''Tapi, nggak pernah memainkannya,'' ujar Syahlan, yang diterima di Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik (FISIP) Unpad.

Sandi Dwi Putra, lulusan SMA PGRI Jambi, bahkan mengaku baru kali ini melihat angklung secara langsung. ''Walaupun sudah banyak orang bule yang ternyata bisa memainkan angklung, tapi saya memegang saja baru sekarang,'' ujar mahasiswa baru Fakultas Ekonomi itu, terlihat malu.

Pengalaman memainkan alat musik angklung sangat menarik bagi Sandi. Meski mereka tak pernah berlatih khusus untuk ikut mencetak rekor MURI ini, mereka bisa segera ikut memainkan angklung dengan melihat aba-aba dari konduktor dan melihat not-notnya. Untuk memainkan angklung, kata dia, yang diperlukan adalah konsentrasi dan kekompakkan jadi nada yang dihasilkan serempak. ''Saya jadi ingin mempelajari budaya sunda yang lain selain angklung,'' kata Sandi.

Acara memainkan angklung untuk mencetak rekor MURI dilakukan untuk mengenalkan angklung kepada generasi muda, padakhususnya, dan mengenalkan seni Sundapada umumnya. Di Unpad, ada unit kegiatan bernama Lingkung Seni Sunda (Lises) yang mewadahi aktivitas seni Sunda. Acara ini, sekaligus juga untuk memeringati 50 tahun Unpad.

Menteri Kebudayaan dan Pariwisata, Jero Wacik, yang hadir menyaksikan acara ini menyatakan permainan musik tradisional bisa menguatkan rasa bangga sebagai bangsa Indonesia. Seuah selayaknyalah, kata Wacik, ditanamkan rasa cinta dan bangga terhadap bangsa melalui seni tradisi sejak usia belia. "Survei tahun 2005 menyatakan bahwa 71 persen warga Indonesia bangga akan seni dan budayanya. Dan, saya punya feeling, kalau sekarang disurvei pasti kebanggaan terbesar masih pada budaya,'' ujar Wacik.

Menurut Wacik, semua generasi muda seharusnya wajib mempelajari semua kebudayaan yang ada di Indonesia. Karena, kalau mahasiswa Indonesia belajar di luar negeri, mereka harus bisa menampilkan kebudayaannya, sebagai salah satu yang dimiliki Indonesia dan menjadi kebanggaan bangsa.

Bermain angklung, ternyata juga mengundang minat mahasiswa asal Malaysia. ''Senang juga main angklung di sini,'' ujar Faridatul Azizah, mahasiswa baru Unpad asal Selangor, Malaysia.

Meski, di Malaysia ia sudah mengenal musik bambu ini, Azizah mengaku baru kali ini memainkannya. ''Di Malaysia, musik tradisional ini akan dipatenkan dengan nama Bambu Malay,'' ujar Azizah.
