The Father of Angklung Daeng Sutigna first created the diatonic angklung in 1938. Until now, angklung still has to face many challenges of identity to be acknowledged as one of world’s standard music instruments. PERSEMBAHAN ANGKLUNG-KULINTANG DI INSTITUTE MILLENIA (www.rsi.sg, 29 Januari 2008) Print E-mail

ImageSebuah persembahan Angklung-Kulintang telah diadakan di Institute Millenia baru-baru ini. Seramai 80 pelajar dari Institute Millenia dan Sekolah Menengah Pertama Darul Hikam Bandung telah menjayakan persembahan tersebut. Ingin tahu lebih lanjut mengenai penglibatan para pelajar dalam persembahan seni ini? Bersama saya, Fadhilla Kamarul, dalam Report Kad minggu ini.

Ahh....merdu kan alunan musik tradisional angklung dan kulintang? Ini sebenarnya adalah sebuah sedutan rakaman yang saya ambil ketika bertemu dengan para pelajar dari Institute Millenia semasa sesi latihan mereka.

Menceritakan tentang persembahan gabungan antara sekolah mereka dengan Sekolah Mnengah Pertama Darul Hikam Bandung baru-baru ini, para pelajar dari Institute Millenia ini merasakan bahawa ia merupakan sebuah peluang keemasan bagi mereka untuk mengenali budaya serta cara memainkan alat musik tradisional dari rakan-rakan dari Indonesia.

Bagi Hafirah Abdul Jabbar, persembahan gabungan seperti ini adalah menarik kerana memberinya pendedahan terhadap budaya permainan angklung dan kulintang.

Pandangan ini disokong oleh Noor Hendra Shahril, pelajar tahun ketiga di Institute Millenia.

Nadiah Hashim pula merasakan bahawa banyak yang boleh dipelajari antara satu sama lain ketika menjayakan persembahan tersebut.

Jika selalunya para belia lebih suka kepada musik hip hop dan R & B, tidak ramai yang begitu gemar dengan permainan alat musik tradisional. Jadi apa yang membuat para pelajar ini memilih untuk menyertai kumpulan Angklung- Kulintang ini?

Itulah perasaan Asrida Riduan Mahmood, apabila menceritakan tentang reaksi rakan-rakannya mengenai keputusannya untuk menyertai kumpulan Angklung-Kulintang di sekolahnya. Bagi pelajar tahun ketiga di Institute Millenia ini, bermain alat musik tradisional seperti ini merupakan sebuah pengalaman yang amat menarik sekali dan telah mencetus minatnya kepada musik melayu tradisional.

Asrida Riduan Mahmood, pelajar tahun ketiga di Institute Millenia.

Sama seperti Asrida Riduan Mahmood, minat dalam musik melayu tradisional juga mendorong Noor Hendra Shahril untuk menyertai kumpulan angklung-kulintang ini.

Hafirah Abdul Jabbar pula merasakan bahawa oleh kerana alat permainan musik angklung dan kulintang ini mudah untuk dipelajari, seseorang itu tidak perlu mempunyai latar belakang musik untuk memainkan alat musik tradisional ini. Lantas, ini yang mendorong dirinya dan rakan-rakan nya untuk melibatkan diri dalam seni ini.

Secara keseluruhan, acara persembahan seni seperti ini amat menarik kerana memberikan peluang kepada para pelajar Singapura berinteraksi dengan rakan-rakan mereka dari Indonesia. Bukan sahaja para pelajar dapat mengenali dengan lebih dekat mengenai budaya seni ini, malah, mereka dapat mempelajari cara memainkan alat musik tradisional angklung dan kulintang dengan lebih baik lagi. Diharapkan acara-acara kesenian seperti ini dapat dilestarikan dengan lebih kerap lagi, dan lantas, dapat memupuk minat terhadap seni ini dikalangan para belia kini. Bak kata orang, tak kenal maka tak cinta.
