The Father of Angklung Daeng Sutigna first created the diatonic angklung in 1938. Until now, angklung still has to face many challenges of identity to be acknowledged as one of world’s standard music instruments. One major problem is that there is no firm standard yet in constructing, tuning, forming, playing, and compositing angklung. Another problem is that until today, an angklung music community as a media of education and industrialization of the angklung music hasn’t been founded yet. Through this website we would like to ask you who have a great concern to the development of angklung to pass this piece of information to the world in order to support this developing music instrument. Through this website we would like to convey an angklung-ical activity to an angklung team or community and hopefully someday the industrialization of angklung can be realized. ImageLiputan6.com, Muenchen: Tak selamanya pengaruh lingkungan merubah jati diri seseorang. Maulana Syuhada, misalnya. Ia tetap mencintai dan melestarikan budaya Indonesia meski bertahun-tahun hidup di tengah budaya Barat. Lulusan S-2 sebuah universitas di Jerman ini mampu berkeliling Eropa selama 40 hari untuk mempromosikan angklung sebagai seni Indonesia bersama grupnya.

Maulana adalah dalang dibalik pementasan Muhibah Budaya yang terdiri dari Keluarga Besar Paduan Angklung Sekolah Menengah Atas 3 Bandung di Muenchen, Jerman pada 2004. Penampilan tersebut merupakan bagian dari tur enam negara di Eropa selama 40 hari. Mereka memperkenalkan angklung sebagai kesenian asli Indonesia.

Guna menarik minat warga asing, Maulan dkk. berkolaborasi dengan rampak kendang hingga sejumlah tarian daerah. Para duta bangsa itu juga memainkan lagu-lagu pop mancanegara seperti New York-New York dan beberapa lagu klasik.

Pertunjukkan tersebut berawal dari sebuah idealisme. Muhibah Budaya Maulana dan grupnya ke Eropa awalnya terbentur masalah dana. Dibutuhkan sedikitnya 56 ribu Euro atau sekitar Rp 672 juta. Sedangkan uang yang diperoleh baru sepertiganya. Namun, mereka tetap nekat demi idealismenya. Klaim Malaysia terhadap angklung sebagai budaya asli Negeri Jiran menjadi salah satu pendorong kuat Maulana dan rekan-rekan ngotot ke Eropa.

Idealisme yang harus dijalani dengan keprihatinan berbuah manis. Ketika menjadi bintang tamu di festival bergengsi Zakopane Polandia, mereka mendapat anugerah tertinggi Ciupaga. Penghargaan ini seharusnya tidak diberikan kepada bintang tamu melainkan hanya peserta festival.

Tak hanya itu, publik Eropa jatuh cinta kepada Maulana dan kelompoknya. Di hampir setiap pentas diakhiri dengan standing applaus dan permintaan lagu tambahan. Interaksi budaya pun terjadi. Goyang poco-poco yang tengah mengetren di Indonesia pada pertengahan 2004 menjadi atraksi menarik di tengah para penonton. Namun, pastinya yang terutama adalah mempromosikan angklung, alat musik tradisional Indonesia.

Ada benarnya kata-kata bijak "sesuatu menjadi lebih berarti ketika kita kehilangannya". Di Eropa, Maulana dan Kelompok Paduan Angklung SMA 3 Bandung merasakan indahnya angklung dan Idonesia. Tanpa Maulana Muhibah Budaya mempromosikan angklung ke Eropa belum tentu terwujud. Kendati perjalanan itu telah berakhir, hingga kini gemanya masih terdengar di negara-negara yang dikunjungi.
