The Father of Angklung Daeng Sutigna first created the diatonic angklung in 1938. Until now, angklung still has to face many challenges of identity to be acknowledged as one of world’s standard music instruments. BERANGKLUNG KE SINGAPURA (Pikiran Rakyat, 29 Juli 2007) Print E-mail

NUANSA Waltz yang berselubung dalam irama march segera menyeruak. Padahal, anak-anak itu memainkan angklung. Aroma itu dipekatkan melalui betotan bas akustik dan accomp (seset angklung bersusun). Sebuah repertoar berjudul “Colonel Boogey March” diperdengarkan. Sayangnya, permainan angklung anak-anak itu belum memunculkan kepekatan. Aransemen pun, akhirnya, tak terdengar megah. Selain itu, mereka juga tak berhasil menjaga tempo musik yang mereka mainkan.
 
Selanjutnya, anak-anak itu menyuguhkan repertoar berjudul “It’s Now or Never”. Kali ini, mereka berhasil menjaga tempo. Tapi, entah mengapa, kepekatan dan kemegahan tak juga terasa. Dan, begitulah yang terasa hingga mereka menyelesaikan 4 repertoar berikutnya, yakni “Lalayaran”, “Singapura”, “Halo-Halo Bandung”, dan “Santorini”.

Anak-anak yang bermain angklung itu adalah tim dari SMPN 5 Bandung. Mereka tengah melakukan latihan di Gedung Serbaguna sekolah tersebut, Sabtu (28/7) pagi. Beberapa hari ke depan, tim angklung yang berjumlah 29 siswa itu bakal berangkat ke Singapura dan manggung di Raffles Girl’s School. “Rencananya, kami berada di sana dari tanggal 2 hingga 5 Agustus mendatang. Kunjungan ini dilakukan dalam rangka menjalin kerja sama dengan sekolah tersebut,” ujar Sri Rahayu, ketua panitia kunjungan, Sabtu (28/7).

Soalnya, SMPN 5 Kota Bandung ingin menahbiskan dirinya menjadi sekolah internasional. Keinginan tersebut pun sudah direalisasikan. “Tapi, baru satu kelas. Rafless Girl’s School kami jadikan benchmark. Di Singapura, sekolah itu sarat dengan prestasi. Tak hanya dari segi pendidikan, tapi juga kesenian, bahkan mereka menda-pat award dari pemerintah dengan kategori seragam terbaik,” katanya.

Hal senada diungkapkan H. Dradjat Sudradjat, Kepala SMPN 5 Bandung. Kunjungan itu, kata dia, merupakan bagian dari transfer ilmu. “Mudah-mudahan, kita bisa melaksanakan apa yang telah dilakukan mereka,” tuturnya. Selain di Raffles Girl’s School, ia menambahkan, tim angklung SMPN 5 Bandung juga bakal tampil di sebuah mal megah, dalam sebuah acara yang diselenggarakan Kedutaan Besar Republik Indonesia (KBRI).

Soal kurang pekatnya permainan ang-klung itu diakui Halida, sang pelatih. Menurut dia, yang menjadi penyebabnya adalah masih minimnya jam terbang mereka. (Hazmirullah/”PR”)***
