The Father of Angklung Daeng Sutigna first created the diatonic angklung in 1938. "Saya ingin angkuh dengan musik tradisional jegog. Jangan salah, jegog sudah mendunia, bahkan sampai ke perhelatan Piala Dunia di Perancis 1998. Sayangnya, orang Indonesia sibuk dengan reformasi. Jadi, ya tidak ada yang peduli dengan kebanggaan kami," kata Ketut Suwentra (60), seniman jegog asal Jembrana, Bali, yang sudah terbiasa dipanggil Pekak (kakek) Jegog.

Bagi Pekak Jegog, keangkuhan bukan berarti dirinya merupakan yang paling hebat. Namun, ia bangga karena jegog Bali tanpa disadari sudah mendunia. Bersama jegog, Pekak Jegog pernah manggung di Jerman dan bermain bersama Mick Jagger, penyanyi rok kelas dunia.

Kini keangkuhan Suwentra berubah menjadi kegelisahan karena ia harus memikirkan bagaimana musik jegog dan musik tradisional lainnya yang berbasis bambu itu bisa lebih dihargai di negerinya sendiri. Kegelisahan seperti itu tak hanya didengungkan Suwentra. Musisi kawakan Dwiki Dharmawan dan Belawan pun demikian.

Lontaran kegelisahan makin keras terdengar dalam Diskusi Bambu Nusantara di Café Lapau, Sanur, Bali, Senin (16/7) malam. Diskusi ini juga menjadi pengantar perhelatan besar dalam upaya menasionalkan musik tradisional berbasis bambu berupa Festival Bambu Nusantara pada 18-19 Agustus 2007 di Jakarta.

Siapa tak kenal bambu? Tanaman yang mudah didapatkan tersebut selama ini setidaknya telah dimanfaatkan untuk keperluan komunikasi seperti kentongan, peralatan rumah tangga, pertukangan, perkawinan, upacara keagamaan, sampai alat musik. Jika di Pulau Jawa bambu dikenal dengan sebutan pring, maka warga Bali mengenalnya dengan sebutan tiying. Dari Sabang sampai Merauke, sebagian daerah memiliki alat musik khas berbasis bambu seperti angklung, kentongan, dan jegog.

Dalam konteks itu, Festival Bambu Nusantara dihadirkan untuk memperlihatkan bahwa Indonesia kaya akan kesenian yang berbahan baku bambu. "Kita semestinya bangga dengan itu," kata Creative Director Wawan Juanda.

Dwiki Darmawan pun mengaku terkagum-kagum dan hampir tak percaya dengan kekayaan musik tradisional bambu. Betapa beragamnya kesenian di Nusantara ini. "Sayangnya, kami tidak bisa menghadirkan semuanya di festival bulan Agustus nanti," ujar pengamat musik dan musisi ini.

Di Pulau Dewata, bambu tidak lepas dari kehidupan sehari-hari, apalagi pada hari raya Galungan. Bambu utuh yang masih melengkung itu pun dihias sedemikian rupa menjadi sebuah penjor. Penjor-penjor tersebut pada umumnya menghiasi sepanjang jalan setiap Galungan.

Selain itu, bambu juga dimanfaatkan untuk upacara adat. Hampir di semua banjar (semacam rukun tetangga) memiliki seperangkat alat musik dari bambu seperti jegog dan rindik, atau beberapa alat lainnya.

"Berbanggalah menjadi orang Bali, yang setiap hari, setiap saat, bisa melestarikan keberadaan bambu ini dibandingkan dengan daerah lain," kata Dwiki di depan peserta diskusi.

Musik kolaborasi

Diskusi di Pulau Dewata malam itu mengawali road show bambu Nusantara di empat kota, yakni Denpasar, Solo, Bandung, dan Jakarta.

Sekarang ini, musik kolaborasi modern dan tradisional makin marak. Di antaranya musisi asal Bali Belawan juga tak ketinggalan mencoba mengombinasi musik jazz dengan rindik dan jegog. Rindik atau jegog ini berupa belahan-belahan bambu pilihan yang mampu menghasilkan nada menyerupai gamelan di Pulau Jawa.

Malam itu seniman jegog I Nyoman Windha dengan bangganya mempersembahkan Jegog Semarpagulingan. Jegog Semarpagulingan merupakan fusi dari gamelan bambu dan tembaga yang diintegrasikan menjadi sebuah gamelan berlaras pelog dengan tujuh nada. Rencananya, bunyi-bunyi yang dihasilkan tersebut, oleh Windha, akan dipadukan dengan alat musik modern.

Perpaduan musik modern dan tradisional seperti itu pula tampaknya yang menjadi sajian Festival Bambu Nusantara, di samping sajian tradisional dari puluhan seniman daerah.

Selain itu, panitia penyelenggara festival rencananya juga menampilkan kuliner dengan menggunakan atau memanfaatkan bambu, seperti Lemeng Bambu. "Ini menjadi ajang festival yang kami impikan akan lambat laun menduniakan bambu Nusantara," kata Wawan Juanda.

Hanya saja, kegelisahan dan haus kepedulian tidak hanya berhenti di sebuah perhelatan festival. Para seniman dan musisi pada diskusi sekitar dua jam tersebut masih berharap pemerintah peduli memberikan ruang bagi musisi daerah untuk bermusik tradisional. Apalagi kabarnya angklung sempat diakui dan dipatenkan oleh negara lain, bukan Indonesia.

"Ini sungguh menyedihkan," ujar Dwiki, yang mengaku melihat masalah ini dari sisi seniman.
