The Father of Angklung Daeng Sutigna first created the diatonic angklung in 1938. Until now, angklung still has to face many challenges of identity to be acknowledged as one of world’s standard music instruments. Through this website we would like to ask you who have a great concern to the development of angklung to pass this piece of information to the world in order to support this developing music instrument. Through this website we would like to convey an angklung-ical activity to an angklung team or community and hopefully someday the industrialization of angklung can be realized. PENGETAHUAN saya tentang musik sangat minim, boleh dibilang teu satai-tai kuku acan. Begitu juga tentang angklung. Dalam pengetahuan saya di Jawa Barat ada dua jenis angklung, yakni angklung pentatonis dan angklung diatonis. Angklung pentatonis bertitilaras da-mi-na-ti-la-da, sedangkan angklung diatonis hasil kreasi Daeng Sutigna almarhum bertitilaras do-remi-mi-fa-so-la-si-do.

Persoalan angklung mencuat ke permukaan, ketika tersiar kabar bahwa pemerintah Malaysia tengah mempersiapkan diri mendaftarkan pembuatan angklung untuk memperoleh hak paten dari WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization). Berkaitan dengan itu, Masyarakat Angklung Indonesia segera angkat suara, yakni mendesak pemerintah Republik Indonesia (RI) untuk secepatnya mengajukan hak paten seni musik angklung ke organisasi yang sama.

Pertanyaan saya adalah angklung bertitilaras manakah yang harus dipatenkan oleh pemerintah RI ke organisasi tersebut? Apa sebab saya bertanya demikian? Menurut banyak pakar musik bahwa titilaras do-re-mi-fa-so-la-si-do bukan hasil kreasi nenek moyang bangsa dan negara RI, tetapi merupakan hasil kreasi orang-orang Barat sana yang entah pada abad ke berapa diciptakan oleh para senimannya. Jika demikian, maka jelas yang harus dipatenkan oleh pemerintah RI adalah angklung yang bertitilaras da-mi-na-ti-la-da. Angklung diatonis bisa jadi tidak punya hak untuk dipatenkan oleh pemerintah RI maupun oleh pemerintah Malaysia karena di dalam alat musik tersebut mengandung hasil kreasi bangsa lain, yakni soal titilaras itu. Konon kabarnya hak paten akan diberikan oleh WIPO bila hasil kreasi seni tradisional tersebut asli 100% dikreasi oleh sebuah bangsa dan negara yang mengajukan hak paten. .

Pertanyaan ini menjadi penting dikemukakan karena diam-diam alat musik angklung diatonis mulai mendunia, seperti alat musik gitar, biola, dan piano yang banyak dikreasi dan diproduksi oleh anak bangsa dan negara Indonesia. Yang dipatenkan oleh mereka hanya merek alat musik tersebut yang diproduksi secara besar-besaran. Produk dari satu merek ke merek lainnya mempunyai perbedaan yang cukup mencolok, mulai dari suara gitar, piano, suling, dan biola hingga pada tampilan bentuknya. (Soni Farid Maulana/"PR")***
