The Father of Angklung Daeng Sutigna first created the diatonic angklung in 1938. Until now, angklung still has to face many challenges of identity to be acknowledged as one of world’s standard music instruments. One major problem is that there is no firm standard yet in constructing, tuning, forming, playing, and compositing angklung. Another problem is that until today, an angklung music community as a media of education and industrialization of the angklung music hasn’t been founded yet. Through this website we would like to ask you who have a great concern to the development of angklung to pass this piece of information to the world in order to support this developing music instrument. Through this website we would like to convey an angklung-ical activity to an angklung team or community and hopefully someday the industrialization of angklung can be realized. MENGAPA MUSIK ANGKLUNG MEMBERIKAN NILAI POSITIF SERTA MENDATANGKAN KEBAHAGIAAN?

Dengan karakteristiknya yang hanya menghasilkan satu nada dari setiap alat, angklung lazimnya dimainkan bersama dalam sebuah tim. Masing-masing pemain memberikan kontribusi berarti lewat nada yang dimainkannya. Untuk itu kekompakan dan kerja sama menjadi sangat dibutuhkan dalam satu tim angklung.

Ketika keduanya telah ada maka akan terasa kepuasan bersama dan rasa haru setiap kali satu lagu berhasil dimainkan dan menghasilkan harmoni yang indah. Sungguh suatu perasaan yang menjadi daya tarik tersendiri dari angklung yang tidak dimiliki alat musik lainnya.

Dengan memainkan angklung secara bersama-sama menghasilkan harmoni bunyi yang indah dan menakjubkan.

Daeng Sutigna memberikan lima kata kunci bagi alat musik angklung itu :

1. Mudah

Cara memainkan angklung sangat mudah, tidak perlu keahlian khusus seperti piano atau biola. Langsung bisa!

2. Murah

Satu set / unit besar angklung dapat dipakai untuk kelompok beramai-ramai, tidak seperti halnya alat musik piano atau biola yang diperlukan per pemain dengan harga satuan lebih mahal

3. Menarik

Selain keunikan bentuk dan karakteristik alat musik angklung ini, cara memainkan alat musik angklung yang berkelompok dan nada tersebar beserta suaranya menjadi hal yang menarik

4. Massal

Alat musik angklung umumnya dimainkan secara berkelompok sehingga memberikan kesan bersama dan massal.

5. Mendidik

Melalui cara permainan secara berkelompok, alat musik angklung mendidik para pemainnya untuk disiplin, bekerjasama dan bertenggangrasa sehingga membangun karakter positif kelompok (character building)
