HOW TO HOLD ANGKLUNG? |
|
|
Usually we play angklung by shaking it. To make a good sound, please follow the instruction (for melodic angklung).
Holding One Angklung
Hold your angklung like this (this is for the right-handed; for the left-handed do the opposite):

Picture 1: Holding one angklung (palm faces up)
- Hold angklung with your left hand and shake it with your right hand.
- Your left hand can hold angklung by grasping the knot of the horizontal and vertical poles (in the middle), so you hold the angklung right in the middle. You can do it with your palm facing up or down.
- The angklung should be upright, paralel to your body, and placed not too close to your body (hold it with your left hand almost straight), so you can shake it well and optimally.s
- Hold the edge of the frame tube with your right hand and shake your angklung.

Holding Two or More Angklung
When you have to hold more than one angklung, you can do it this way :

Picture 3: Holding two angklungs (palm faces up)
Hold the bigger angklung with your left hand closer to your body. You can put your left arm into the angklung’s frame (if the angklung is big enough for your arm) and hang the angklung on your lower arm. You can also put your left fingers into the angklung’s frame, place it properly so you can also hold the other angklung with your left hand and you can play both properly.
