<<< Welcome to Angklung Web Institute (AWI)! This website is a medium of information exchange about angklung knowledge and competence, especially diatonic angklung in orchestral composition. The Father of Angklung Daeng Sutigna first created the diatonic angklung in 1938. Until now, angklung still has to face many challenges of identity to be acknowledged as one of world’s standard music instruments. One major problem is that there is no firm standard yet in constructing, tuning, forming, playing, and compositing angklung. Another problem is that until today, an angklung music community as a media of education and industrialization of the angklung music hasn’t been founded yet. Through this website we would like to ask you who have a great concern to the development of angklung to pass this piece of information to the world in order to support this developing music instrument. Through this website we would like to convey an angklung-ical activity to an angklung team or community and hopefully someday the industrialization of angklung can be realized. JATUH CINTA PADA ANGKLUNG (Pikiran Rakyat, 24 Maret 2006)

SEJAK dipercaya menempati posisi menjaga gawang Persib, otomatis waktu Kosin Hathairattanakool banyak dihabiskan di lapangan, baik latihan maupun bertanding. Namun, di sela-sela kesibukan tersebut, penjaga gawang asal negeri "Gajah Putih" Thailand ini, masih sempat bertandang ke Saung Angklung Udjo (SAU) di Jalan Padasuka.

Pertama kali turun dari kendaraan yang membawanya ke SAU, Kosin sempat tertegun beberapa saat. Pandangannya tertuju ke rimbunnya pohon bambu berwarna hitam. Namun, beberapa saat raut wajahnya berubah diiringi senyum. "Beautiful music! (Musik yang indah-red.)," ucapnya, saat mendengar alunan musik angklung dimainkan anak-anak usia balita hingga belasan tahun, setiap sore menjelang petang.

"Saya baru tahu kalau Saung Angklung Udjo begitu nyaman, belum lagi orangnya ramah-ramah. Kalau tidak diajak ke sini, mungkin saya tidak akan tahu," ungkapnya, seraya pandangannya terus mengitari setiap sudut yang melulu bambu.

Ditanya mengenai musik angklung yang diberikan oleh Taufik "Udjo" Hidayat sebagai kenang-kenangan, dikatakan Kosin, angklung sebagai alat musik sangat sederhana dari sisi bentuk maupun bahannya. "Meskipun terbuat dari bambu dan bentuknya sangat sederhana, musik yang dihasilkannya sangat merdu dan indah, membuat kita betah berlama-lama mendengarnya," ujarnya.

Bahkan, kalau jadwal kegiatan dirinya tidak padat, Kosin ingin berlama-lama berada di Saung Angklung Udjo, untuk mendalami dan bermain angklung bersama.

Ibarat dirinya yang saat ini tengah menjalani kontrak dengan Persib Bandung, Kosin ingin tampil sederhana, apa adanya mempertahankan dan membela timnya. Namun, penuh rasa tanggung jawab dan berkorban sekuat tenaga. "Saya akan bersikap profesional di tim, di mana saya bermain. Tapi, di Persib ini terasa sangat lain, orangnya ramah penuh rasa kekeluargaan dan saya dianggap seperti keluarga. Seperti angklung ini, sangat sederhana diterima dan mampu dimainkan
