PENDAHULUAN

Tujuan pendidikan musik di sekolah umum antara lain dimaksudkan untuk mengembangkan perasaan musik dan menghidupkan minat serta menggali bakat musik, sehingga murid kelak akan mampu menyanyikan atau memainkan lagu-lagu dengan baik dan benar, dan apabila menjadi pendengar akan dapat merasakan sebagai penikmat musik yang baik.

Unsur yang mendasar dalam pendidikan musik sudah tentu adalah pengembangan perasaan musik disamping pengembangan minat akan musik. Sedangkan hasil ayng diharapkan ialah kemampuan untuk menyanyikan atau memainkan lagu-lagu meskipun sederhana, tetapi baik dan benar serta dapat berpartisipasi dalam musik yang tampil dalam berbagai bentuk, dan apabila sebagai pendengar maka pendengar yang baik.
Alat musik angklung sebagaimana alat-alat musik lainnya seperti suling, piano, biola dan sebagainya, hanyalah alat bantu dalam mencapai tujuan pendidikan musik. Hendaknya juga jelas bahwa pelajran angklung sekali-kali tidak dimaksudkan untuk menggantikan penajaran menyanyi atau penggunaan alat musik lain, bahkan tidak ada salahnya kalau guru mencoba memadukan alat musik angklung dengan alat musik lainnya.

Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan, dengan Surat Keputusan Nomor 082/1968 tertanggal 23 Agustus 1968, telah menetapkan bahwa angklung sebagai alat pendidikan musik di lingkungan DEPDIKBUD. Yang menjadi bahan pertimbangan sehingga angklung dipandang perlu untuk ditetapkan sebagai alat pendidikan musik :

a.       Angklung sebagai alat pendidikan menonjol dalam pembentukan karakter, seperti gotong royong, disiplin, kecermatan, ketangkasan, tanggung jawab, serta dalam pendidikan seni suara khususnya, angklung dapat membangkitkan perhatian terhadap musik, menghidupkan musikalitas, mengembangkan rasa irama, rasa melodi, harmoni, dan lain-lain.

b.      Walaupun belum merupakan alat musik yang cukup sempurna, namun angklung dapat dipertanggungjawabkan sebagai alat pelajaran pendidikan.

Yang dimaksud dengan “Angklung” pada Surat Keputusan Mendikbud itu, ialah apa yang dikenal masyarakat dengan nama “Angklung Padaeng” yang bertangga nada diatonis kromatis.

“Padaeng” ialah singkatan dari Bapak Daeng Soetigna yaitu orang yang menciptakan alat musik angklung bertangga nada diatonis kromatis.

Bapak Daeng Soetigna adalah seorang lulusan Kweekschool di Bandung (Sekolah Guru 4 tahun berbahasa Belanda), ketika itu menjabat sebagai guru HIS (SD 7 tahun berbahasa Belanda) di Kuningan Jawa Barat.

Bapak Daeng Soetigna tidak saja telah berhasil memperkaya khasanah angklung tradisional (pelog dan salendro) dengan angklung bertangga nada diatonis kromatis, juga sangat berjasa di dalam pengembangannya menjadi perangkat alat musik modern yang meliputi nada-nada melodi yang menjangkau 3,5 oktaf dimulai dari nada G-besar sampai kepada nada C-bergaris 3, dilengkapi dengan 24 angklung akor atau chords, 12 buah dalam skala minor untuk mengiringi/mendukung angklung melodi.


KELEBIHAN DAN KELEMAHAN ALAT MUSIK ANGKLUNG

Musik angklung dalam beberapa hal dapat dikatakan lebih efektif dan efisien dibandingkan dengan pemakaian alat bantu musik lain seperti suling, biola, piano dan sebagainya.

Kekuatan angklung dalam menjelaskan pengertian tentang berbagai konsep musik terletak pada mudahnya alat tersebut dimanipulasi dengan tangan oleh masing-masing murid dalam kelompok, disamping angklung sangat efektif dalam usaha memvisualisasikan konseo-konsep musik, seperti tinggi rendah nada, interval, akor, gerak lagu, transposisi dan sebagainya.

Kekuatan lain dapat dilihat dalam menghidupkan minat musik karena unsur bermain dalam kelompok yang terdapat dalam musik angklung ini dapat mendatangkan kebersamaan yang menyenangkan. Musik angklung juga memberikan kesempatan yang seluas-luasnya kepada para pemain untuk menyanyi sambil memainkan alat musik angklung. Situasi seperti ini sudah barang tentu akan menambah gairah dalam bermain musik.

Dari kelebihan-kelebihan yang ada dalam musik angklung tersebut bukan berarti tidak memiliki sisi kelemahan, tetapi sepanjang lagu-lagu yang dimainkan itu sederhana dalam tempo, bentuk irama (rhythm), dinamik, rangkaian nada (legato, staccato dan seterusnya), maka hasil yang diperoleh cukup menyenangkan para murid/pemain.

Sisi kelemahan musik angklung terdapat pada kesederhanaan bentuk alat serta proses pembuatannya yang menggunakan bambu sebagai penghasil nada, serta cara memainkannya.

Untuk lagu-lagu yang cukup sulit karena tempo yang cepat, ornamentasi ayng rumit, perubahan-perubahan dinamika yang kuat dan sebagainya, angklung memang bukan alatnya. Hal ini disebabkan disamping karena alatnya yang terlalu sederhana dana cara memainkannya yang tidak bisa berubah-ubah, juga karena tiap satu buah angklung menyuarakan satu nada saja.
