AWI (Angklung Web Institute) recommend you to be careful in choosing and buying angklung. There are main things you should pay attention to, otherwise it will cause some troubles and your angklung cannot be played optimally.

The first thing is the termite. It is related to the kind of bamboo and the way of crafting the angklung, and now there are so many kinds of bamboo as well as so many ways of crafting angklung. The wrong kind of bamboo and the wrong way of crafting may cause the termite problems and pulverize the angklung, thus it cannot be played any longer. Even the high quality angklung has 5% possibility of being contaminated by the termite.

As the main material of angklung, bamboo is also very much influenced by the climate, for example the weather change or the geographical difference of the place where the angklung is crafted and where it will be delivered. The climate difference may cause the angklung fragile and then break it.  

There are also many levels of quality and many types of packaging and shipping. Carelessness may cause the quality and the durability of angklung decrease, for instance: 1) the sound is not equally high and clear, 2) the stability of the tune precision declines, 3) the form of angklung is not very neat and balanced, and 4) the durability against the climate change and the termite weakens.
